One-time Parent Consultation

A one‑time parent consultation is a focused, high‑impact session designed to give caregivers clear guidance, practical tools, and a deeper understanding of their child’s needs—without the commitment of ongoing therapy. This service is ideal for parents who are feeling overwhelmed by their child’s behaviours or emotional responses, and who want immediate, actionable support.

60‑minute or 90‑minute sessions

A one‑time parent consultation offers a dedicated space for caregivers to explore concerns related to their child’s behaviour, emotional regulation, reactions to trauma, sensory needs, or daily routines. These sessions are structured, supportive, and clinically informed, providing clarity and direction when parenting feels challenging or uncertain.

  • 60‑minute consultation: ideal for focused concerns or targeted guidance

  • 90‑minute consultation: recommended for more complex situations, trauma‑related concerns, or when multiple topics need to be explored

What Happens During the Session

Each consultation is tailored to the family’s unique concerns. Sessions may include:

  • Exploration of current challenges: understanding the behaviours, triggers, and patterns you’re seeing at home or school

  • Developmental and emotional context: discussing how age, temperament, trauma history, or sensory needs may be influencing your child’s responses

  • Collaborative problem‑solving: identifying strategies that align with your child’s needs and your parenting values

  • Skill‑building and regulation tools: co‑regulation strategies, emotional coaching techniques, sensory‑friendly approaches, and routine‑support tools

  • Psychoeducation: emotion regulation, attachment, co‑regulation, collaborative problem‑solving, the window of tolerance, the nervous system, and mindfulness.

  • Resource sharing: parents receive practical tools, handouts, and informational documents to support implementation at home

  • Clear recommendations: guidance on next steps, whether that involves home‑based strategies, school collaboration, or considering ongoing therapy

  • Practical, evidence‑informed strategies to use immediately

  • Tools and resources tailored to the family’s situation

  • A sense of direction and confidence in responding to challenges

  • Optional recommendations for further services, only if needed
